The parents of 19 year-old Kai Bogert published a birth announcement in their local paper after their son’s transition – and it is amazing
Published in the Brisbane Courier Mail, the Bogert’s included a picture of their son Kai and a short message to announce the “birth” of their new son. In the classifieds section, they retracted Kai’s former birth announcement from 1995, wherein they introduced their daughter, Elizabeth Anne. Now that their son Kai is transitioning, his mother Yolanda Bogert told the Brisbane Courier Mail that posting the ad was a “no-brainer”.
“I needed to show my son I support him 100 percent and wanted to let the world know that,” explained Yolanda. “It is all very new to us. Kai just told me a few days ago that he no longer wanted to live as a girl.”
Was the teenager embarrassed by the very public display of acceptance by his parents? Not at all. “I am so happy with what she has done. This last week has changed everything for me,” said Kai.
“I am still me but I am more me than I was a few days ago and feel free.”
Let’s applaud Kai’s parents, and Kai, they are all lucky to have each other.
