Nicola Coughlan, the Irish actress best known for her role as the wee lesbian Clare Devlin in Derry Girls spent Oscar night partying with Hollywood’s lineup of stars.
She attended Elton John’s Oscars party as the guest of Queer Eye’s Jonathan Van Ness, who at times she’s called her “soul sister”.
She arrived, strutting into the venue in a stunning floaty floral dress. She was clearly nervous, as most of us would be showing up to our first Oscars after party!

She felt good about her outfit, and rightfully so! As she later pointed out that “it’s actually rude” how cute she and Van Ness looked.

Later that night – it happens to the best of us, we step away from the party to take some cute selfies and pictures, because we know that we look good, or at least think we do. Well Nicola obviously did the same, except the bathroom at the after party had a twist, it had… a wind machine. Perfect for selfies!
There was a wind machine in the portaloo and honestly wow a highlight pic.twitter.com/G37LK547Zb

Nicola also couldn’t help fan-girling over some famous faces such as Jane Fonda, Skylar Astin and Donatella Versace.
Donatella Versace and Heidi Klimt were there, didn’t know how to process that

Elton John came to the party to give a performance and she understandably lost her mind. Especially given the fact that he was only 20 feet away from her.
Elton John then came to the party and played and honestly it was one of the best moments of my life pic.twitter.com/uLbT5Xb995

She remarked how “It was hilarious I was even there” and compared herself to “your elderly auntie at a wedding – delighted to be invited and absolutely thrilled to get the free dinner”.
Honestly it was hilarious I was even there, I only was because my pal was hosting but I was honestly like your elderly auntie at a wedding- delighted to be invited and absolutely thrilled to get the free dinner

An apparently, the dinner did not disappoint, as Nicola also made a hilarious comment about the order the food was served in.
There was so much food! They gave us salad AFTER the main course and no one could understand why

To finish off an already incredible trip she received what most of us consider the holy grail of flying. Getting upgraded to business class, for free. Here’s hoping in the future Nicola won’t just be attending the Oscars as an afterparty guest, but as a nominee.
