Nicola Coughlan tweets at Elton John's Oscar party are the most Irish thing we've seen

One of Derry Girls most loved stars Nicola Coughlan clearly had a wonderful time at Elton John’s Oscars party as she live tweeted the whole thing for us all to enjoy.

Nicola Coughlan, the Irish actress best known for her role as the wee lesbian Clare Devlin in Derry Girls spent Oscar night partying with Hollywood’s lineup of stars.

She attended Elton John’s Oscars party as the guest of Queer Eye’s Jonathan Van Ness, who at times she’s called her “soul sister”.

She arrived, strutting into the venue in a stunning floaty floral dress. She was clearly nervous, as most of us would be showing up to our first Oscars after party!

She felt good about her outfit, and rightfully so! As she later pointed out that “it’s actually rude” how cute she and Van Ness looked.

Later that night – it happens to the best of us, we step away from the party to take some cute selfies and pictures, because we know that we look good, or at least think we do. Well Nicola obviously did the same, except the bathroom at the after party had a twist, it had… a wind machine. Perfect for selfies!

Nicola also couldn’t help fan-girling over some famous faces such as Jane Fonda, Skylar Astin and Donatella Versace.

Elton John came to the party to give a performance and she understandably lost her mind. Especially given the fact that he was only 20 feet away from her.

She remarked how “It was hilarious I was even there” and compared herself to “your elderly auntie at a wedding – delighted to be invited and absolutely thrilled to get the free dinner”.

An apparently, the dinner did not disappoint, as Nicola also made a hilarious comment about the order the food was served in.

To finish off an already incredible trip she received what most of us consider the holy grail of flying. Getting upgraded to business class, for free. Here’s hoping in the future Nicola won’t just be attending the Oscars as an afterparty guest, but as a nominee.
