The Outmost Friday Four Vol. 06

Tunes galore from Natalia Kills, RUFUS, The Saturdays and Deadbots to pump up your weekend.

While a new issue of GCN arrives this weekend (and a new playlist!) we’re also going to treat you to the best new tunes we can muster.

Natalia Kills – Trouble

We’ve raved at length about Kills excellent and underrated second album Trouble and now that title track has come equipped with a stunning new video. The kitchen sink drama meets fashion fantasy tone will feel familiar to anyone who has watched a pop video in the last 12 months but this one stands out. A well shot tale of a couple who probably shouldn’t stick together it plays like a sequel to Rihanna’s We Found Love. The song itself is also a corker, a rousing Lana Del Rey meets Rihanna pop-rock number with plenty of emotion.

RÜFÜS – Desert Night

As deep-house tinged pop takes over you can expect plenty Disclosure and Chris Malinchak flavoured hits to fly your way. Already a huge hit in Australia the moody but synth inflected pull of this track will likely win you over. Playing like a faintly poppier take on Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaur’s chilly house grooves it’s a subtle but impressive indie-dance earworm.

The Saturdays – Not Giving Up

On the other end of the dance pop spectrum is this new single from The Saturdays. Not Giving Up has been kicking around as an album track but has been given a new lease of life as their next single with a suitably brash video that’s all sleek lighting and hair-flips. Playing like a sequel to the rather amazing All Fired Up, it hits some fairly obvious pop rave-up notes but if you want a solid pop banger for the weekend, this is your ticket.

Deadbots – UFRST

Last week we saw Róisín Murphy do Ireland proud on a house track with Freeform Five. And now we’ve another solid slab of electro-house from an Irish act. Deadbots have put in time with well received remixes but are ramping up their own output with the 80s wobble and staccato synths of UFRST. It’s got a pleasant stomp and a glacial mood that are fairly undeniable. (Cheers to Nialler9 for the tip-off on this one)
