Hinge has unveiled their second instalment of No Ordinary Love, An Anthology of Love Stories Almost Never Told, where queer authors write the messy real-life love stories of couples who met on the dating app.

Last year, the goal of No Ordinary Love was to fill the gap in the romance aisle of bookshops with realistic and awkward relationship stories. This year, Hinge is doing the same but focusing on Gen-Z and LGBTQ+ love stories.

Authors Upasna Barath, Hunter Harris, William Reyfet Hunter, Tomasz Jedrowski and Jen Winston have been paired up with five couples who met on Hinge to retell their stories. The authors wrote about the misunderstandings, the slip-ups and misreads that every real romance endures, while telling the stories from both partners’ perspectives.

Author William Rayfet Hunter teamed up with Tony and Sam for the story ‘There You Are’, recounting their near-missed connection and long-distance relationship and how they have learned how valuable communication is.

Another author, Tomasz Jedrowski, was paired up with non-binary couple Aissata and Juno. Jedrowski wrote about perception versus reality and how the couple dealt with overthinking and reading too much into messages or a lack thereof. This story is called ‘Too Good to Let Go.’

Hinge has released No Ordinary Love on Substack, launching as a five-part series and publishing weekly. This will help create a place for community and conversation for readers. Developed in collaboration with Dazed Studios, No Ordinary Love offers readers realistic stories of true romance and the messy turns and twists that dating takes.

“Substack has become a place for meaningful discussions about dating and relationships, so bringing No Ordinary Love to the platform felt like a natural fit. We want to complement Substack’s community of writers and readers with honest, authentic perspectives on love from exciting literary voices,” said Jackie Jantos, President and Chief Marketing Officer at Hinge.

What’s more, Hinge is also releasing a book! In June of this year, Hinge is releasing a limited edition hardcover book of the anthology in collaboration with Dazed Studios, which will be distributed to select book clubs in New York and London to keep that in-person connection alive.

Jamie Knowles, Managing Director at Dazed Studio, stated: “At Dazed Studio, we’re always interested in projects that challenge dominant narratives and create space for honest, human storytelling. With this next iteration of No Ordinary Love, we had the opportunity to pull from our extended creative community to shape a campaign that feels deeply cultural, personal, and refreshingly real. It offers a slower, more reflective take on modern dating; one that resonates with how people are truly feeling right now.”

We hope you are as excited as we are to dive into these adorable and heart-string-pulling love stories. You can find these stories here. Happy reading!
