The only thing better than finding the perfect Halloween costume is when there’s a complimenting costume idea for your significant other or best friend to wear alongside you. Here is a list of perfect Halloween costumes for queer couples featuring some LGBTQ+ icons from 2023 as well as some classic favourites.
1. Aziraphale and Crowley from Good Omens

There’s no denying the outrageous and adorable chemistry between Aziraphale and Crowley, and there’s something particularly fun about coordinating costumes with good and evil elements for Halloween. You just need to decide who gets to wear all-black and effortlessly cool sunglasses and who instead wants to sport the iconic beige suit.
2. Bisexual Robin and Bisexual Superman
Superman is bisexual
I’m happy for him. He shouldn’t have to spend his life in the closet like Batman and Robin. pic.twitter.com/hNnXG5w08U
— Reverend Calvin Barnes (@VoiceofCal) October 11, 2021
Who doesn’t love dressing up as a superhero? Marvel Studios made headlines in 2021 when Robin’s character confirmed his bisexual identity, and last November, Superman: Son of Kal-El comic book series featured a heartwarming coming-out scene between Clark Kent and his son, Jon. Why not honour these heroes with an adorable superhero couple’s costume?
3. Your favourite Rockford Peaches players from A League of Their Own
My Rockford Peaches costume was a hit with both lesbians and gay men tonight soooo mission accomplished ? pic.twitter.com/t17tkA5qzS
— The Aerial Feminist (@AerialFeminist) October 28, 2022
This costume is sure to be a home run. While we’re all still devastated over the cancellation of one of Amazon Prime’s most popular shows among queer women, the legacy of the team of Rockford Peaches from A League of Their Own can live on through these amazing Halloween costumes.
4. Anyone from Sex Education
I’ve been trying to figure out how to describe my fashion sense and I think the closest I’ve got so far is ‘whatever the hell the Sex Education costume department has got going on’ pic.twitter.com/SdsVace1Ls

With so many iconic queer characters in the show, there’s no shortage of costume ideas. Whether you want to be Ola, Otis, Lily or Eric, there are plenty of fun accessories to choose from. And recreating the Moordale High uniform is easy enough, just go all-grey and add your own yellow and red accessories.
5. Kelly and Yorkie sporting the ’80s glam from Black Mirror‘s “San Junipero”
High key wished someone could be in a couples costume with me but we’re actually Yorkie and Kelly from Black Mirror pic.twitter.com/QqgjpmiFym
— Harley✨ (@mspizzza) August 12, 2017
This unforgettable Black Mirror episode is probably the most heartwarming story the series ever produced and continues to make an epic sapphic costume choice. As a bonus, the ’80s costumes and accessories are always fun and adorable.
6. Janis and Damian from Mean Girls
This classic duo is always a hit, and with the Mean Girls musical touring Europe next year, these costumes are as relevant as ever. These costumes are easy to assemble, all you need is a green jacket, a white hoodie, and black nail polish. Fun fact, every leading male cast in the 2004 film is now loudly out and proud.
7. Daphne and Velma from Scooby Doo

Scooby Doo fans have long been rooting for Velma to get the queer origin story that she deserves, and the HBO series finally delivered. Their costumes are easy to recreate and, paired together, these outfits create the colours of the lesbian flag. Isn’t that just perfect?
8. Ariel and Ursula from The Little Mermaid
A few selfies which were taken during our homeshoot. I’m looking forward to finish the whole costume and to finally wear it when it gets hotter xD

To celebrate the premiere of the live-action film this year, you can’t go wrong as Princess Ariel and Prince Eric. But, if you want to tap into your queer witchy side, consider going as Ariel and Ursula. And, if you are looking for some fun group costume ideas, there are plenty of iconic characters to choose from in this classic.
9. She-Ra and Catra, She-Ra and the Princesses of Power
What a pair for this fabulous list! This coupling gave us animation nerds all the feels throughout the show and then again with that epic finale. If I could dress up as Catra every day, I would.
10. Ruby and Sapphire, Steven Universe
These literal gems are absolute couple goals and their pairing is the perfect metaphor for a healthy relationship. If you haven’t witnessed their love firsthand, get thee to Netflix and commence watching Steven Universe immediately.
11. Harley Quinn and Joker
Name a more iconic duo than Harley Quinn and the Joker. Go on, try! Okay, so both of these have been done to death, but we can’t help but love how cute they look together… despite the fact that they are sociopaths.
And speaking of one of the hottest villains…
12. Riddler and Joker
This costume set doesn’t require a lot of effort… or clothes. This one’s all about the paint job. You can also opt for a more clothed version if you prefer – it is autumn, after all! We won’t judge.
13. Legoshi and Haru, Beastars
Geared specifically towards the anime fans among us, this pair are a fantastic option for anyone in search of adorable couples’ costumes. They’re cute and sweet and they wear human clothes… it couldn’t be easier! A wolf tail, a pair of bunny ears, some makeup and hey presto! You’ve got yourself some star-crossed lovers.
14. Piper and Alex, Orange is the New Black
Is this reference dated? Absolutley. Do we care? Absolutely not! Not only is this costume easy and effective, but Piper and Alex also had some real chemistry. If we powered the world on the electricity between them, maybe the planet wouldn’t be in such a state.
All you need to become the jailbird lovebirds is plain clothing (beige or orange will do) over a grey long-sleeve shirt and an expression that says you’ve been hardened by the system.
15. David Bowie and Prince
What way to better honour the musical icons than by stealing their lewks? All you need is a couple of wigs and you and your partner will channel the two rock legends.
16. Brittany and Santana, Glee
There are diehard Glee fans out there who will never let go of Brittana, and why should they? They make the gays happy and they’re incredibly easy to immortalise in a couple’s Halloween costume. Two cheerleading outfits, some ponytails and Brittana will walk amongst us again.
17. Calvin & Hobbes
This is one of the go-tos when it comes to queer couple Halloween costumes and we can see why: it’s both adorable and extremely easy to put together. All you need is a stripey red and black top for Calvin and a tiger onesie for Hobbes. You can get the onesie here.
18. Daria and Jane
The sassy best friends Daria and Jane are Halloween classics, and this pairing makes an iconic queer couple costume option. Different colour blazers, a pair of glasses et voilà, you got your costumes!
19. Jake and Finn
Another couple’s costume that doesn’t require a lot of effort and looks great is Jack and Finn from Adventure Time! Bonus point for creativity if you do your own DIY version of Finn’s sword.
20. Fred Flintstone and Barney
Get two large pieces of fabric for the tunics and one for Fred’s tight. Fleece is a good option for this as it’s pretty cosy and warm, which is a bonus for skimpy costumes like these. You can also switch it up and go as Wilma and Betty.
21. Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy
The DC Cinematic Universe movie we deserve! Fan favourites Gotham City Sirens, Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy, make two amazing Halloween costumes!
22. Mario & Luigi
When it comes to queer couple costume choices, so many looks can be achieved with bright t-shirts and facial hair! Better start growing it now.
23. Morticia and Gomez Addams
If you’re in the mood to wear all black, then dressing up as the iconic couple from The Addams Family is for you! While in costume, own the mysterious and sexy attitude of this power duo and spook your friends to the core.
24. The Powerpuff Girls
Here’s a trio for our polyamorous audience! Each Powerpuff girl has her own unique personality so you can all choose the character that most relates to you, and then unite with your partners to fight the forces of evil!
25. Barbie and Ken
More fun pics from yesterday’s Barbie & Ken Costume Contest (and the Grand Finale Parade) from Day 2 of the San Francisco Chinatown Autumn Moon Festival! So much fun meeting some of the contestants in Barbie & Ken costumes this past Sunday (and hopefully Chinatown will have… pic.twitter.com/FUDYBBDaLt

We couldn’t do a queer couple Halloween costume round-up without including the most obvious choice! There are so many looks to choose from here. You could be Mojo Dojo Casa House Ken and Beach Ken or any of the iconic Barbies. This will certainly be a popular costume, so if you’re single, it will be easy to find the Barbie or Ken of your dreams.
