The RTÉ Concert Orchestra is set to relive the soundtrack of a generation with Symphonic ’90s, an electrifying celebration of one of music’s most unforgettable decades.
The unmissable evening is presented by the RTÉ Concert Orchestra with conductor Stephen Bell and vocalists Annie Skates, Emma Kershaw, Steve Trowell and Stephen Weller.
From power ballads to pop anthems, this spectacular evening brings a fresh sound with a symphonic twist to some of the biggest hits of the ’90s. Experience the iconic tunes of Robbie Williams, Gary Barlow, Madonna, Shania Twain, Cher, George Michael, the Spice Girls and more!
Performing classics like ‘Let Me Entertain You, Man!’, ‘I Feel Like a Woman’ and ‘Vogue’, the RTÉ CO are joined by guest vocalists Annie Skates, Emma Kershaw, Steve Trowell and Stephen Weller who bring the glamour and grunge of the boy band and pop princess era to life.
From ‘Hold On’ (1990) by Wilson Phillips to ‘I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing’ (1998), we’ll take you on a nostalgic ride through the ’90s. No Doubt’s 1995 alt-rock classic ‘Don’t Speak’ will be followed by a special boy band medley, and let’s not forget ‘Love Is All Around’, originally recorded in 1967 by The Troggs, with Wet Wet Wet recording a special cover version as soundtrack to Richard Curtis’ 1994 film Four Weddings and a Funeral.
Another revival hit, Dolly Parton originally recorded ‘I Will Always Love You’ in 1973, but the 1995 duet with Vince Gill was nominated at the 38th Annual Grammy Awards for Best Country Collaboration with Vocals, and was named Vocal Event of the Year at the 30th Annual CMA Awards.
‘I’d Do Anything for Love’, and ‘(Everything I Do) I Do It For You’: whether you lived through the ‘90s or just love the music, live for the nostalgia with ‘Livin’ la Vida Loca’ and get a little bit of Orchestra in your life with ‘Mambo No. 5’.
This incredible evening is taking place on Thursday, June 19, at the National Concert Hall. Get your tickets here before they sell out!
