Annie Clarke (aka singer song writer extraordinaire St.Vincent) answers your FAQs in a series of tongue-in-cheek Instagram clips that should be called “every interview ever”.
Pre-empting the announcement that her newest album MASSEDUCATION will be released on October 13th, the Grammy-award winner released an interview kit scripted by friend and comedian, Sleater Kinny‘s Carrie Brownstein. The announcement was made even sweeter by the fact that the multi-instrumentalist released new track Los Angeles along with it.
The on-the-nose answers, BDSM-clad boom operators and dead-pan humour make for a brilliant parody of all the interviews we’re so used to watching and artists like St. Vincent are sick of doing.
Created as a response to getting asked the same questions over and over again, the interview tackles hard-hitting questions like “What album would you take on a desert island”, she answers “a flare gun, a first aid kit, a cellphone and a boat.”
I’m sure we’ve all wondered “What’s it like playing a show in heels?”. The answer? “You do have to rehearse! But it does something to your posture, which I really like. It also does something crippling, which I also like.”
Having declared her latest single New York as one of her best yet, it looks like St.Vincent might just be the art-rock gift that keeps on giving.
