Blockbuster franchise Star Wars is to introduce its very first lesbian character.
Causing lesbian nerds everywhere to scream internally, the official lesbian character is to be included in the upcoming Star Wars novel Lords of the Sith by Paul S Kemp.
The novel – to be released April 28 – is to include the character of Moff Mors. According to Big Shiny Robot, Mors “is an Imperial who has made some very serious mistakes, but she is an incredibly capable leader and spends much of the book working hard to prevent absolute failure. She also happens to be a lesbian.”
In the Expanded Universe was concerned, two gay Mandalorians, Goran Beviin and Medrit Vasur, were in a committed gay relationship in the now Legacy of the Force books.
Shelly Shapiro, editor of Star Wars books at Del Rey told BSR: “You have all these different species and it would be silly to not also recognize that there’s a lot of diversity in humans. If there’s any message at all, it’s simply that Star Wars is as diverse (or more so because they have alien species) as humanity is in real life and we don’t want to pretend it’s not. It just felt perfectly natural.”
As the details of the upcoming Star Wars film is kept tightly under wraps, it is unknown if Mors will be included in Episode V11, The Force Awakens.
