The Dublin Fringe Festival 2024 is making its triumphant return from September 7 to 22, with jaw-dropping performances, mind-blowing art, and unforgettable moments. Among the wonderful productions in this year’s programme is First Trimester from performance artist and writer of Netflix’s Sex Education Krishna Istha, which promises to be among the festival highlights. To add to the good news, GCN has two all-day passes for this incredible show to give away to our lucky readers!

For 16 full days, the Dublin Fringe Festival 2024 will take over the city, marking its 30th birthday this year. It will host 75 events with 520 performances in 29 venues, with audiences invited to watch as over 500 artists take the stage.

Performances will tackle important themes such as family and tradition, mental health, Irish identity, inclusivity in sports, female empowerment, cultural identity, racism, queer shame and the housing crisis.

One of the highlights of this year’s festival is First Trimester, a show that explores human connection, parenthood, and what it means to create a family as a transgender person. Through intimate live interviews, performance artist Krishna Istha will talk with 100s of participants in a quest to find them and their partner a sperm donor, or at least discover the qualities that bring them closer to their perfect match.

The performance presents a rare opportunity to contribute to and witness queer family-making. The show is currently recruiting sperm-havers across all genders, ages, races, and cultures to be interviewed live on stage.

Audience members are free to enter or leave the performance space at any point, as the show is designed to be enjoyed in full or in part. The Dublin Fringe Festival kindly asks people to simply be respectful when leaving the space, as the performance will be ongoing.

Performances will take place on September 19 and 20, with a full-day performance on September 21. All day passes to First Trimester are on sale here for €35, but if you’re feeling lucky, enter GCN’s competition by answering the following question:

What anniversary is the Dublin Fringe Festival celebrating this year?

The competition closes at midnight on Tuesday, September 17, 2024. Winners will be contacted directly and shared on social media.
