To celebrate 20 years of OUT 100, the magazine unveils four collectible covers featuring the brightest LGBT stars of the past year.
It’s no surprise that these celebrities have been immortalised by OUT for the 20th anniversary of OUT 100, an annual list honouring LGBT public figures, pioneers and activists. Between them, they have appeared in blockbuster movies, sold millions of albums, captivated millions on groundbreaking TV series’ and shattered closet doors by coming out on the world stage.
This year, OUT went with the theme of “On the Shoulders of Giants,” and had Ellen Page, Zachary Quinto, Sam Smith and Samira Wiley pay homage to some of the most pivotal moments in history.
Orange is the New Black star Samira Wiley honours Josephine Baker, the first black woman to star in a major motion picture (ZouZou, 1939). British crooner Sam Smith channels his inner Bowie while Zachary Quinto goes Wilde in a nod to The Picture of Dorian Gray.
Ellen Page, who came out as a lesbian on Valentine’s Day 2014, looks stunning as Marlene Dietrich in Morocco, the 1930 film that featured Hollywood’s first on-screen female-to-female kiss.
