Vanessa Hudgens gave an interview in which she spoke about her new Broadway role and why it matters that she is a straight ally for the LGBT community.

GLAAD was lucky enough to catch up with High School Musical star Vanessa Hudgens, to discuss her role on Broadway in the spanking new show Gigi.

Explaining why she’s an ally for the LGBT community, the actress says that she “doesn’t see people as gay or straight.”

“People can be very close-minded and I think it’s not right. I don’t think it’s fair. I think it’s important for us to stand up for people and to have each other’s back, and to be involved with the gay community and support the community.”

She went on to admit, “I’m a very open person. Love comes first for me.”
