Charli xcx has released her highly anticipated remix album, Brat and it’s completely different but also still brat, this Friday, October 11. The album reimagines all 15 tracks from her original BRAT record, plus one from the deluxe edition (Brat and it’s the same but there’s three more songs so it’s not), creating a new listening experience that both reinvents and stays true to the spirit of the original.

The remix album features an impressive lineup of collaborators. Tinashe joins Charli on the ‘B2b’ remix, transforming the track with fresh instrumentation that allows both artists to shine over an infectious club beat. One of the album’s highlights is ‘I might say something stupid’, featuring The 1975 and Jon Hopkins, which has been transformed from a quiet interlude into a powerful ballad with a sombre tone.

Caroline Polachek lends her ethereal voice to ‘Everything is romantic’, adding a new, conversational dynamic between her and Charli that offers a beautiful, intimate twist on the original track. Perhaps the most surprising collaboration comes with The Strokes’ Julian Casablancas, who features on ‘Mean girls’, where his vocals blend seamlessly with Charli’s, creating a standout moment on the record.

Other notable appearances include Bon Iver, Yung Lean, Bladee, Shygirl, and queer artists Billie Eilish, Troye Sivan and The Japanese House, each bringing their unique style to create distinct takes on Charli’s work. With a combination of pop icons and alt-pop innovators, this remix album is bound to satisfy fans both new and old.
