Miley Cyrus has admitted that not all of her relationships have been with men.
In an interview with The Associated Press, Miley Cyrus revealed that not all of her previous relationships have been “straight, heterosexual” – though she didn’t elaborate.
The 22 year-old also revealed in the same interview, that Bruce Jenner is her “hero” for shining a light on trans issues.
Miley Cyrus was speaking as part of the launch of the Happy Hippy Foundation, which seeks to offer support for homeless LGBT youths.
“The position I’m in, I feel like I’ve got a lot of power,” Cyrus told the AP. “But, so many kids don’t feel that way. They’re under their parents’ rule.
Cyrus said she was inspired by the attention she received when she asked a homeless man to accept her award at the 2014 VMAs.
“It’s something that everyone sees,” she said. “It’s like the birds chirping. We’re consciously ignoring it at all times, but it’s always happening right in front of us.”
Funds raised by Happy Hippies will create digital support groups for LGBT youth and their families.
Speaking about her controversial image, Cyrus admitted that having a ‘look-at-me’ image can help her charitable and political causes.
“It’s like, I know you’re going to look at me more if my (breasts) are out, so look at me. And, then I’m going to tell you about my foundation for an hour and totally hustle you.”
“It’s not going to be an overnight process,” Cyrus said. “You’ve got to get into a lot of people’s brains and you’ve got to really make this a topic.”
Cyrus will unveil a collection of music video collaborations with artists such as Ariana Grande. The first Backyard Session featuring Joan Jett is available on the foundation’s Facebook page.
