Ryan Murphy, director of hit TV shows ‘Glee’, ‘American Horror Story’ and ‘American Crime Story’ is set to direct ‘Feud’, which looks at the tempestuous relationship between Bette Davis (Susan Sarandon) & Joan Crawford (Jessica Lange).

Following the popularity of Ryan Murphy’s hit anthology TV series American Horror Story and American Crime Story, the first season of Feud will focus on the rivalrous relationship between Classical Hollywood stars Bette Davis and Joan Crawford during the shoot for Whatever Happened to Baby Jane.

Bette Davis and Joan Crawford worked together for the first time in the 1962 drama Whatever Happened to Baby Jane? Reportedly, Davis made the scene in which Crawford’s character had to carry her across a room difficult by eating a lot of food so she would be as heavy as possible.

Jessica Lange and Susan Sarandon will be joined by a great ensemble cast: Alfred Molina, Judy Davis, Stanley Tucci and Dominic Burgess are due to star in the series which is billed for eight episodes. Ryan Murphy will direct and executive produce some of the episodes with Brad Pitt. Sarandon and Lange are lined up to produce as well.

Fox Television Group’s Co-CEOs Dana Walden and Gary Newman have said “With Jessica and Susan headlining, it’s already sure to be flawlessly acted, wildly entertaining, and fiercely provocative. It’s a fantastic project which only Ryan Murphy could deliver.”
