Colton Haynes has set up a new merchandise website, and his launch video is pretty great

Recently out Colton Haynes (Teen Wolf/Arrow) has launched a new website selling official merchandise including t-shirts emblazoned with his face or the words ‘Anxious’ and ‘DADDY’, phone covers with images of Colton, snapbacks and more. And to top it off, Colton’s launch video has big balls flying in front of his face!

Ok, they were lemons, not balls, but at least Colton’s doing something great with them.

The website itself is well designed, with a great image of a blonde Colton mid-scream greeting visitors on first arrival.

The merchandise is available for men and women, with some of the merchandise having sold out entirely.

Colton Haynes has been overwhelmed by the support of his fans, taking to Twitter to say: “I am so blown away by all of yalls support 🙂 In just under 2 hrs… we are almost SOLD OUT. Sending hugs!!!”

Colton has been an advocate for mental health after he spoke publicly about his own anxiety.

His fans even crashed his site because of the influx of his followers who were trying to purchase Colton merch.

Change In The Air

It’s great to see such support for a publicly out celebrity whose career had the potential to take a hit from being open about his sexuality.

However in the film and television industry, like in sports, professionals in the public eye remain wary about the potentially negative impact that coming out will have on their career.

The fact that younger actors like Colton and his colleague Charlie Carver from Teen Wolf and Desperate Housewives feel comfortable enough to come out indicates that Hollywoods views on LGBT might be changing.

This increased visibility for LGBT people in film and television is great, with actors like Ellen Page, Matt Bomer, Anna Paquin, Ian McKellen and Zachary Quinto leading the way in terms of LGBT representation, and acting as a beacon for anyone struggling to come out.
