Sasha Velour took to Instagram to announce her upcoming collaboration with Opening Ceremony as part of New York Fashion Week. The season nine winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race will join the high-end fashion retailer for their upcoming fashion show The Gift of Showz, a live spectacle celebrating the art of drag in New York and around the world.

On her Instagram, Sasha revealed she is “so excited” for the project, which will be “a celebration of the art (and fashion) of drag”.

Sasha Velour will team up with iconic fashion designers Humberto Leon and Carol Lim as well as a host of special guests yet to be announced for the Spring/Summer fashion show.

Opening Ceremony are known for their larger than life fashion extravaganzas, and their upcoming collaboration with Sasha promises to be no exception. The brand debuted their 2018 Autumn/Winter collection at Disneyland California in a mouse-themed fashion-spectacular with Diplo, Laverne Cox, Chance the Rapper and Karen O lining the front row.

Since winning her season of RuPaul’s Drag Race, Sasha Velour has only gone from strength to strength. Known for her distinct style and general commitment in tearing gender apart, this Brooklyn-based bald queen has had quite a year since securing her victory in what is possibly the greatest reveal in Drag Race herstory.

With the success of her live drag show Nightgowns two films in the works, as well as the release of Velour: The Drag Magazine there is certainly no sign of slowing for Sasha. The Gift of Showz will mark her first high-fashion collaboration.

If you missed Sasha’s sickening live performance with Victoria Secret last February, fear not! Sasha will be joined by season six contestant Milk in a gig hosted by Klub Kids in the Tivoli Theatre on the 20th of September.

The Gift of Showz will premiere on the 9th of September at New York Fashion Week.
