The new group LGB Alliance has received widespread backlash online for being anti-trans following the group’s pre-launch in London on Tuesday night. Lawyer Allison Bailey wrote on Twitter, “This is an historic moment for the Lesbian, Gay and Bisexual movement. *LGB Alliance* launched in London tonight, and we mean business. Spread the word, gender extremism is about to meet its match.”
Members of the LGBT+ community spoke out against the new group’s ‘transphobic’ stance. One woman responded to Bailey’s Tweet with, “As a bisexual woman, I am utterly disgusted at your attacks on our trans siblings and your alliance with the religious right. You do not speak for me (or for any of the other queers I know – we’re all equally repulsed by your ideas).”

The official Twitter page for LGB Alliance has 2,903 followers and is currently following 16 accounts. The bio for the page reads, “Asserting the right of lesbians, bisexuals and gay men to define themselves as same-sex attracted. Gender is a social construct.”
There is a strong push against the LGB Alliance by the people they claim to represent. Furthermore, many people have commented on the fact that the group mainly consists of heterosexual people.
Mini-thread.

Despite the group describing the pre-launch meeting as “truly inspiring,” reaction to the announcement has not been positive. One Twitter user said, “This is extremely vile. Usually terfs try to hide their transmisia, but good for you to show it out in the open for all of us to avoid you.”

Another Twitter member said, “The tea here is the lack of T. As a lesbian I do not support a movement that erases my trans brothers and sisters.”

LGB Alliance are planning to fully launch next year. Commenting on the backlash, the group said, “You can’t advocate for the rights of everyone at once. Sometimes there are clashes. These must be acknowledged.”

With respect to the newly formed #LGBAlliance – if the core of your idea of standing up for people's rights is based on trampling all over other people's, then you are less of a human rights alliance and more of a hate group. It's LGBT+. We all stand & work together. @AllianceLGB
