Belong To has introduced a new initiative, Belong To Sundays, offering a relaxed, drop-in space for LGBTQ+ young people to socialise and connect in a welcoming environment. The space will be open every Sunday from 2 to 5pm, allowing visitors to come alone or with friends.

Attendees will have access to board games, a Nintendo Switch, snacks, and comfortable chill-out areas for conversations and catching up. This new initiative aims to create a safe and supportive environment for LGBTQ+ youth to connect and feel part of their community. Whether popping in for a quick chat or spending the afternoon relaxing, Belong To Sundays will offer a much-needed social space for LGBTQ+ young people to unwind and build meaningful connections.

Senior Youth Worker Brenda Kelly shared her enthusiasm for the new offering: “We’re excited to open this space for young people. Our structured weekday groups from Monday to Thursday have been very popular, but many LGBTQ+ young people are also looking for a weekend space in Dublin to relax and connect with their community.”

Kelly noted the success of a similar pre-pandemic initiative, which saw many young people drop in for tea and a chat with friends.

“It was always really popular, with lots of friendships starting and plenty of fun. We’re thrilled to bring something like this back. And since it’s on the weekend, it’s easier for young people from outside Dublin to attend.”

Belong To also runs various weekday community groups, offering spaces for LGBTQ+ young people to share experiences, socialise, and participate in activities. These range from pizza nights and special events to clothing swaps and information sessions on LGBTQ+ topics, with activities determined by group members. With meeting spaces available nationwide, finding a local group is easy using the map provided by Belong To on their website. Follow this link to browse for local groups.
