GCN is giving one fa-fa-fa-fabulous reader the chance to see Gold in the Water, the hilarious and heartfelt Irish musical that’s set to dazzle audiences at the Project Arts Centre this November. What’s more, the winner of the tickets will also score a €100 voucher for Sano Pizza.

Bart’s world is perfectly ordered until a mysterious goldfish lands on his doorstep and crashes his wedding anniversary celebrations. His husband, Harvey, wants to take the unexpected visitor in, but Bart refuses. What begins as a small domestic disagreement soon ripples into a far deeper reckoning with love, friendship, and the fear of change. As the goldfish becomes an unlikely catalyst, Bart must decide whether to open himself to something new or risk ending up all alone.

Written by Shane O’Reilly with Paul Curley, composed by Denis Clohessy, directed by Ronan Phelan and choreographed by Philip Connaughton, Gold in the Water is a flamboyant and life-affirming theatrical experience that combines sharp humour, heart, and a shimmering sense of the unexpected. Featuring a full live band and an ensemble of powerhouse performances, it captures the joyous chaos that ensues when life refuses to go according to plan.

Matthew Malone leads the cast as Bart, joined by Domhnall Herdman as his husband Harvey, Clare Barrett as the formidable Pet Shelter Owner, and a stellar supporting cast including Ruth Berkeley, Tiernan Messitt-Greene, Niamh McAllister and Rachel O’Byrne. Together, they bring to life a world bursting with laughter, music, and emotional honesty.

Described by the Irish Times as “a precious gem… ridiculous fun… brilliantly realised”, giving it a whopping four stars, Gold in the Water is a comic and heartfelt exploration of how we respond to change, whether we swim bravely forward or cling to the safety of the shore.
