In what is shaping up to be the fashion-film event of the year, the hit 2006 comedy The Devil Wears Prada has officially announced its sequel, The Devil Wears Prada 2, and blessed us with a brand-new teaser trailer.
The clip opens on nothing but the click-clack of ruby-red stiletto heels echoing through the corridors of the fictional magazine Runway, before revealing the one and only editor-in-chief, Miranda Priestly (played by Meryl Streep), complete with signature white pixie cut and steely gaze.
Joined in the elevator by her former assistant Andy Sachs (played by Anne Hathaway), now grown, poised and chic in her own right, Meryl Streep’s Miranda coolly delivers the line: “Took you long enough.” The brief moment is heavy with nostalgia and promise.
Much to the delight of fans, the original powerhouse cast is back. Emily Blunt returns as Emily Charlton and Stanley Tucci as Nigel Kipling. In addition, a fresh entourage of style-savvy newcomers have joined the runway of characters: names such as Kenneth Branagh, Simone Ashley, Lucy Liu, Justin Theroux, and more have been confirmed.
While plot details remain tightly under wraps, the teaser and press materials suggest that the sequel will follow Miranda as she grapples with the shifting landscape of print media and the luxury world.
The film is slated for a theatrical release in May 2026. The teaser itself is a masterclass in economy: a mere 50–52 seconds long, it features the evocative beat of ‘Vogue’ (as made famous by Madonna), the flicker of red-heeled footsteps, flash frames of high-fashion fittings, and that elevator moment that rewinds 20 years of cinematic savvy in under a minute.
For fashion-film aficionados and fans of the original alike, this The Devil Wears Prada 2 revival hits a sweet spot, bringing back beloved characters, new energy, and grappling with a real-world industry shift (the decline of print). The teaser already nods to the style-first spirit of the original while promising something contemporary and dynamic.
If you found yourself silently chanting “Gird your loins” when seeing it for the first time, you’re not alone. The return of Miranda and her world isn’t just a sequel, it’s a cultural moment. Mark your calendar for May 2026 and prep your best Prada boots.
