Gay sheep made gay wool, and Grindr turned it into a fashion collection – yes you read that correctly. Rainbow Wool, a non-profit organisation and farm that is home to the world’s first ever flock of gay sheep, teamed up with Grindr and designer Michael Schmidt to create the beautifully proud collection, supporting LGBTQ+ initiatives internationally.
Rainbow Wool works with gay German farmer and shepherd Michael Stücke. The initiative rescues gay rams from slaughter and is a first when it comes to producing from the wool of gay rams.

When rams show interest in same-sex relations, they are usually sent to slaughter, and roughly one in twelve rams tend to be gay. The initiative is a heartwarming endeavour, and Stücke’s farm is all about animal-friendly agriculture and LGBTQ+ friendly culture.
“Our farm offers them a different fate,” said Stücke. “This collaboration with Grindr proves that being gay is part of nature itself, and I’m proud our sheep can help people see love and diversity in a new way. The wool from these rams isn’t just material, it’s a message spun from animals who live freely and are loved.”

Grindr came on board to support Rainbow Wool with the intention of highlighting the importance of connection in all forms for a NYC fashion show.
Schmidt, the collection’s designer, also lists Beyoncé, Madonna, Cher, Lady Gaga, Lil Nas X, and Sabrina Carpenter among his clients.

The collection debuted last night, November 13, in New York City, with 36 looks inspired by gay archetypes.
It’s like a Tom of Finland book came to life. We’re talking jocks, a policeman, a sailor, and even Adam of Eden.
