Lucy Dacus feeds fans with "hot masc" music video and Dublin gig announcement

Fans have been thanking Lucy for her service, with one masc-lover commenting: "we are so rarely fed, but today, we feast".

Lucy Dacus has shared Best Guess, the third single from her upcoming album Forever Is a Feeling, set for release on 28 March via Geffen Records. The track arrives alongside a self-directed music video that, much like the album’s Renaissance-inspired artwork, plays with classical themes—this time making ode to the lesbian renaissance. The video features a cast of “hot mascs and trans mascs”

Lucy Dacus has shared ‘Best Guess’, the third single from her upcoming album Forever Is a Feeling, set for release on March 28 via Geffen Records. The track arrives alongside a self-directed music video that, much like the album’s Renaissance-inspired artwork, plays with classical themes—this time making an ode to the lesbian renaissance. The video features a cast of “hot mascs and trans mascs” recruited via a social media open casting call, including Naomi McPherson, Cara Delevingne, Towa Bird, and ER Fightmaster, as well as TikTok personalities Mattie Westbrook and Elio, to name a few.

The video itself features each member of the masc cast wearing a suit and participating in stereotypically hot butch activities (pool, looking cool, etc), shot like a reimagined ’90s boy band video. The love song is an anthem of tenderness that captures that terrifying excitement that comes with new romance.

Fans have been running to the comment section thanking Lucy for her service, with one person commenting: “can’t overstate enough how huge this is for the masc and butch lovers across this nation and beyond. we are so rarely fed, but today, we feast”.

Another commented: “Best guess more like best thing I’ve ever seen in my life”.

While the video has been widely praised, it has also faced some criticism online over its casting choices, with some fans wanting to see more racial, age and body diversity.

‘Best Guess’ follows the album’s first two singles, ‘Ankles’ and ‘Limerence’, which were released in January. The former boygenius member has also announced additional UK and European dates for her Forever Is a Feeling tour, including a gig in Dublin’s Iveagh Gardens on July 3.

Following a run of intimate sold-out shows in February and March, the tour will kick off properly in Philadelphia on April 16, with extra dates already added due to high demand. Katie Gavin of MUNA and jasmine.4.t will provide support, and for the North American leg, Dacus has partnered with PLUS1, ensuring that $1 from every ticket sold will go towards supporting communities affected by the recent LA wildfires.

The newly announced UK and European dates are as follows:
– 12 June – Oslo, NO @ Rockefeller
– 16 June – Amsterdam, NL @ Paradiso
– 19 June – Berlin, DE @ Astra
– 24 June – Brussels, BE @ Ancienne Belgique
