Elton John and his partner David Furnish will be honoured with the Human Rights Campaign‘s National Equality Award at this year’s 18th Annual National Dinner.

The couple are being honoured for their fundraising for the Elton John AIDS Foundation, which has raised more than $300 million in the US and the UK since it was founded by the singer in 1992.

“We are truly excited to honor such influential international AIDS activists and philanthropists at this year’s national dinner,” said HRC President Chad Griffin. “As we celebrate the progress we’ve made over the last year while focusing on what we have yet to accomplish, their life’s work inspires us as we keep moving forward for equality.”

The dinner, which will take place on October 25 in Washington DC will also see former US president Bill Clinton address guests with a keynote speech.

The National Dinner is expected to draw over 3,000 guests. Former recipients of the National Equality Award include US TV host Suze Orman.
