Actress Portia de Rossi secretly checked into the Passages rehab facility in Malibu last month after an “ugly fight” with her wife Ellen DeGeneres, according to In Touch Weekly.

The source reports, “Portia hadn’t been happy for a while and was drinking and isolating herself, and Ellen confronted her…Portia lost it and blamed Ellen for driving her to drink because of her controlling ways and said she wasn’t in love with her anymore. Ellen is domineering and Portia is passive. Ellen always calls the shots, and Portia never complains”.

The InTouch report continued, “She felt like a prisoner in her own home, and went from sipping wine occasionally to drinking at least a bottle or more a day and topping it off with a pill. It got to the point where she was out of it four nights a week”.

The Arrested Development star, who spent at least 30 days in treatment for drugs and alcohol at the plush rehabilitation centre, is believed to have been visited by DeGeneres on the weekends”. The couple has been subjected to numerous split rumours in recent months – they have supposedly tried couples counselling, and according to the Irish Independent, contacted divorce lawyers.

However, photos shared on Instagram of the couple enjoying a holiday in Croatia last month seemed to show signs that the pair were attempting to salvage their relationship.

The 41 year-old previously entered rehab in 2001, when her weight plummeted to just 82 pounds, due to a struggle with eating disorders which she described in her 2010 autobiography, Unbearable Lightness.

Passages, rated the number one rehab in the world, told Page Six, “The primary issue has to be substance abuse, because that’s what we’re licensed as”. Neither Portia nor Ellen’s publicists have responded for comment as yet.
