Vitaly Milonov, a notoriously anti-gay Russian politician, raided a St. Petersburg gay bar with riot police and cameras after reports that teenagers were “trapped inside”.

The Russian lawmaker raided Central Station, one of Russia’s most famous gay bars, after he received complaints from parents that their underage children were trapped in the venue and unable to escape. Milonov came in plain clothes, accompanied by a film crew from local news site Fontanka.ru.

Central Station was hosting a Loshadka party, a legendary event that promises “Craziness, scandal and sex” on advertisements. After being initially declined entry for not adhering to the club’s flamboyant dress code for the night,Milonov stormed the entrance and police proceeded to check IDs of the young party-goers. “We found around 20 teenagers there that were practically having sex on the stage,” said Milonov after the raid.

He said that the youngest of the attendees was a 15 year-old girl. He claims that she was not allowed to leave by the club’s staff, and that one bouncer was violent with her.

“A 15-year-old girl went to the club and saw what a 15-year-old girl should never see. She tried to leave, but the guards wouldn’t let her. One of them struck her,” he said. Milonov also vowed contact city prosecutors in hopes of shutting down the club and launching a criminal case into the abuse.

Milonov was one of the most vocal supporters of the gay propaganda law that passed in 2013 under President Vladimir Putin.

Earlier this year, Central Station’s sister club in Moscow faced closure after a string of anti-gay attacks, including a harmful gas being emitted in the club and a non-fatal shooting when two men opened fire on club patrons.

Police refused to investigate any of the attacks reported by the club owner.
