RuPaul is currently filming a pilot for a new daytime talk show with the syndication company behind Ellen Degeneres' daytime show.

RuPaul Gets Talkshow

Ooooh, girl! RuPaul is bringing her charisma, uniqueness, nerve and talent to daytime.

According to Variety, the host of RuPaul’s Drag Race is filming a talk show pilot with Telepictures, the same production company behind the wildly popular Ellen Degeneres show.

Filmed in front of a live audience, the show will feature the Glamazon as he brings his “unique, positive and aspirational point of view to the format”, where he will interview celebrities and discuss popular culture.

Resident judge of RuPaul’s Drag Race and Ireland’s Got Talent, Michelle Visage, is also rumoured to be heavily involved in the talk show.

This won’t is the first time Ru will host a talk show. Back in 1996, she was the host of The RuPaul Show on VH1. It was notable as being one of the first national television programs in the United States hosted by an openly gay host. Michelle Visage, a radio personality and former singer, was the show’s co-host.

Earlier this month it was revealed that RuPaul’s Drag Race alumni Courtney Act will host her own talk show on Channel 4, aptly named ‘The Courtney Act Show’, in response to her “undeniable star quality”.

Courtney was the overwhelming fan favourite on the last series of Celebrity Big Brother from the beginning, appearing as both her character and boy self Shane Jenek, eventually triumphing over fellow finalist Ann Widdecombe. That public attention obviously inspired Channel 4 to grab her before someone else snapped her up.

The station’s commissioning editor, Sarah Lazenby announced, “As entertaining as she is emotionally intelligent, as savvy as she is sassy, Courtney was born to perform. We are utterly delighted she has chosen to come to the channel to host the world’s first ‘dragazine’ show”.
