Manager of the George’s St Krüst Bakery Steve Marquer talks to us about Dublin Town

Krüst Bakery is situated just opposite the George on George’s St, putting it right in the heart of gay Dublin.

The cafe is a proud supporter of LGBT people, with rainbow Pride cronuts (a mix between a croissant and a donut) on display in their shop this year!

Founded in 2012, Krüst Bakery is the sole supplier of the Cronut within Ireland and the UK. Krüst not only operate the bakery on Georges St, but they also offer catering and wholesale services on their website online.

Besides delicious baked treats like donuts and cookies, Krüst also serves tea and coffee, breakfast bagels, croissants, pain au chocolat and scones in the morning.

For lunch you can feast on sandwiches, meat platters, salad and more.

1. In ten words or less, tell us why do you love doing business in Dublin Town?

I love the people; they are so friendly, it makes me smile every morning.

2. The most gay-friendly haunt in the city, apart from the scene?

The George is right in front of our café, and I can see it’s really popular.

3. If you could do one thing to improve Dublin, what would it be?

There would be more accommodation. I can see so many of my friends struggling to get places to rent.

4. Who is your favourite Dubliner of all time, dead or alive?

5. Hidden gem of the city?

The canal in Portobello is really nice to chill with some friends at, and you can even order a drink at The Barge.
