A group of trans Girl Scouts in the United States have collectively sold more than 71,000 boxes of cookies, following an uplifting annual campaign that has captured hearts across the country.
Each year between January and April, Girl Scouts take part in the organisation’s iconic cookie sale, a major fundraising effort that brings in an estimated $800 million annually. Scouts earn badges and prizes based on how many boxes they sell, but for many involved in this year’s campaign, the rewards have gone far beyond numbers.
As cookie season kicked off, Erin Reed journalist and author of the Erin in the Morning Substack, once again published a list of transgender and non-binary Girl Scouts from whom supporters could order their 2026 cookies. Encouraging readers to take part, Reed wrote: “This year, consider ordering your Girl Scout Cookies from a trans Girl Scout to make their day.”
The response was overwhelming. Orders poured in from across the US, pushing total sales past 71,000 boxes. For the families involved, the impact was immediate and deeply personal. Parents reported that many scouts were stunned by the scale of the support, with some struggling to believe that so many strangers had chosen to show them kindness.
Reed later reflected that the campaign’s success meant far more than impressive sales figures. Families shared how the experience became a rare source of joy for their children at a time when transgender young people are facing intense pressure.

Many trans youths in the US have recently lost access to healthcare as hospitals respond to federal political pressure, while others continue to encounter hostility from politicians and community leaders.
Against that backdrop, the cookie drive offered something simple but profound: reassurance. Again and again, scouts and parents described the campaign as a reminder that people across the country see transgender children, value them, and care about their futures.
The story comes as a message of support as Trans scouts face discrimination internationally. In December 2025, the UK scouting organisation announced that trans girls would no longer be permitted to be members, a decision that sparked widespread criticism. For many observers, the success of the US cookie campaign stands in stark contrast, highlighting how small acts of solidarity can have an enormous emotional impact.
What began as a familiar fundraising tradition has, for these trans Girl Scouts, become something much more: a message of support reaching beyond the US, delivered one box of cookies at a time.
