As February kicks into gear, it’s time to get out your calendar and schedule in some queer events to attend this month. Whether you’re looking to meet your one true love at a matchmaking festival or take yourself on a solo date to the cinema, this list has something to suit all tastes!
The Wild Geeze Singles StoneyBanter
No round-up of queer events in February would be complete without a singles night, and this one from The Wild Geeze is not to be missed. Doubled up as a Year of the Dragon celebration, the dynamic duo of Breda Larkin and Miss Lavelle returns to Kavanaghs in Stoneybatter with some very special guests for an unforgettable evening of cabaret excellence. Tickets for the show on February 9 are available now via Eventbrite, and if you can’t make the Dublin date, fret not as Miss Lavelle is also hosting a singles night a week later in Limerick!

Mother x Absolut Daytime Dance Party
Can you think of anything better than going to Mother AND bed early? Neither can we! So lace up your dancing shoes for this daytime party in Dublin on February 11. There is a jam-packed lineup of DJs, dancers and drag artists to look forward to, and what’s more, those who arrive before 4pm will be treated to a free drink courtesy of Absolut. Drag Brunch at The Bernard Shaw
Miss Taken and Miss Roots, aka The Misses, are hosting their much-loved Drag Brunch at The Bernard Shaw every Saturday throughout February (and beyond). Guests can expect a feast for the senses as they indulge in delectable foods while being treated to live performances that blend high-camp comedy, sensational lip-syncing, and a touch of outrageousness. Klub Kwen x Gayentine’s
Irish drag collective the Haus of Kwén is throwing a special Gayentine’s bash on February 16. Taking over The Venue in Athlone, expect a fierce night of celebrating all things love! Tickets are on sale now here.

Scene + Heard
Scene + Heard Festival of New Work returns this February, with an array of queer productions in the programme. One of the highlights is Bad Girl: A One Man Show which follows the experiences of an oblivious trans boy in an all-girls school. It’s on in Smock Alley Theatre on February 17, with tickets available here.
Another production not to be missed is Wide Open, a work-in-progress play from emerging playwright Joe Murphy. The poignant piece follows Conor and Alex, a young gay couple navigating the London scene. Wide Open similarly shows in Smock Alley Theatre on February 24 and 25, and tickets can be purchased here.

Dublin International Film Festival
The Dublin International Film Festival (DIFF) also returns this month, bringing with it an opportunity to see a whole host of LGBTQ+ movies. Running from February 22 to March 2, don’t miss the short films Pregnant with a Drag Queen and Never Kill a Femboy on the First Date, as well as the features Housekeeping for Beginners, Orlando, My Political Biography and The Summer With Carmen. Aisteach Fundraising Quiz
Aisteach Queer Housing Co-op is hosting its annual fundraising quiz in Street 66 on February 21. In addition to a night of guaranteed fun, there are also some incredible raffle prizes up for grabs, including some gorgeous GCN merch! Haus of WIG – The Hausparty
The phenomenal Haus of WIG queens are back to present another iconic Hausparty. Quare Tales
The newest show from LGBTQ+ performance group Acting Out, Quare Tales is a showcase of eight new 10-minute plays. There’s something for everything in the audience, as the works span comedy, drama, sci-fi and horror. The Galway show takes place on Saturday, February 24, while the Dublin shows take place on February 29 and March 1. Get your tickets here!
