Just fresh off announcing a new album, Chappell Roan keeps adding new achievements to her impressive resume as she is set to perform at this year’s Elton John AIDS Foundation Academy Awards Viewing Party.

Organised every year on the night of the Oscars, the party has raised over $115 million to support the foundation’s mission to end AIDS since it began over three decades ago. The 33rd annual event is taking place at West Hollywood Park on March 2 this year and will be co-hosted by Jean Smart, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka.

Organisers said guests can expect “a night packed with dazzling red carpet arrivals, show-stopping music, and extraordinary one-of-a-kind auction lots that you won’t find anywhere else.”

One of the most beloved guests set to make an appearance at the star-studded viewing party is queer singer Chappell Roan. “We’re beyond excited to welcome the sensational GRAMMY-winning artist, Chappell Roan, to the stage for an electric performance that will raise the roof!” organisers stated.

In a recent interview with Variety, Elton John’s husband and filmmaker, David Furnish, spoke about the special bond that his partner and Chappell Roan share. “He was about as early as an early adopter can be to her talent. Subsequently, she’s become a dear friend to Elton and me,” he said. “He keeps an eye on her and loves what she has achieved musically.”

Speaking about one of Roan’s concert the couple attended in London, Furnish said they were “just blown away by her and her performance.”

“This is an artist with one album under their belt and she played every single song from the album,” he added. “The audience knew every word, and she just gave them the most spectacular performance.

“Her band were fantastic. She knew how to put a song across to an audience in such an electric and powerful and entertaining way.”

The ‘Pink Pony Club’ singer also commented on the news, saying in a statement that she was “glowing” and felt “honored” to be performing at the party. “Elton and his husband, David, have been incredible guiding lights for me this year, showing me a love that has truly helped me through,” she said.

“I’m deeply passionate about supporting the queer community in every way I can, and I’m so proud to be part of an organization that fights for equality and provides lifesaving access to care for queer communities. I can’t wait to bring an unabashedly gay performance to such an iconic night!”

After winning her first Grammy following a chart-topping year, Chappell Roan has just announced a new album, The Giver, to the joy of all her fans.
