Grab your cloak and coven, the witching hour is almost here! As we prepare to celebrate the Halloween season, we’ve gathered together some tips, tricks and treats to help you plan the spookiest party yet.

Whether you’ve been training for this day for months or are organising a last-minute get-together, hopefully these ideas can give you some inspiration for our favourite holiday!

Food and drink
No party is complete without some snacks! Whether you want to host a potluck party or dish up some servings of your own, below are some fun and quirky Halloween feasts.

Eyeball ice
An innovative way to add some chills to your drinks. Add a blueberry to each ice cube in an ice tray, and serve up with your party drinks (ideally something brightly coloured!)

The image shows a small glass with green liquid and ice cubes with blueberries, to emulate eyeballs.

Themed cocktails
Cocktail parties are trending at the moment, so why not make it Halloween themed! Invite your friends to come up with some creative potions for your celebrations.

Marshmallow ghosts
Add some white marshmallows to a wooden stick and decorate with melted chocolate for a fast and easy sweet treat. For the sad lesbians out there, decorate your ghost treats in the style of the Stranger in the Alps cover art.

Witch brooms
Using some peanut butter cups and breadsticks, scoop together some witchy snacks for the party table.

Coffin sandwiches
Repurpose some jam sandwiches to create your own edible graveyard. For an extra touch, add a jam cross on top to seal the deal.

Decorations
If you’re looking to go all out with your decor, check out some of these DIY decoration ideas. These tips will add some extra frights to your Halloween party!

Wanted Wall
Spook your party guests and decorate a wall with ‘wante
d’ posters of your friends’ faces. A guaranteed laugh and a fun backdrop for your party pictures.

Ghost lights
Another simple but effective decoration idea! Cover your lamps with some white cloths and add some black paper for eyes.

Graveyard
Repurpose some old cereal boxes to design eerie headstones for a makeshift graveyard. The more the merrier, as you can use them to line a staircase or hallway entrance.

Candles
If you’re looking to upcycle your candles for the holiday season, melt down some red crayons and decorate your candles with fake blood.

The image shows a white candle, with a red crayon being melted to form the appearance of blood forming along the sides.

Silhouette
To top it off, use some black paper or material to cut out a creepy silhouette for your window or door frame. Just remember to take it down so you don’t end up spooking yourself in the middle of the night!

Music and Games
Once the decorations and food are done, take the time to curate your perfect party playlist. From the Hocus Pocus soundtrack to the MAYHEM album, there are plenty of beloved queer bops to choose from!

For some extra entertainment, add in some party games. We know you’ve been cooking up a niche Halloween costume since last year (‘I love gay Halloween, what do you mean you’re Harry Styles picking up a takeaway in 2020?’), so be sure to include a costume contest in your party!

You can also add in some staples like bobbing for apples, and a spooky ghost stories circle time.

For something more low-key, check out our TV show recommendations and have a watch party! Halloween is the perfect excuse for a Fear Street movie marathon (though we’ll watch it any time of year).
