Jordan Firstman’s directorial debut, Club Kid, has finally got its first trailer, ahead of its theatrical release later this year. The new A24 film follows a New York City party promoter, Peter, whose life is turned upside down by the arrival of a son he never knew he had.

Firstman has recently starred in a number of notable TV shows and movies in recent years, including two seasons of FX’s English Teacher, Sebastián Silva’s queer black comedy Rotting in the Sun and, more recently, Rachel Sennott’s HBO series I Love LA. Now, he is moving behind the camera for his first feature film, which he also wrote and stars in.

Arlo, his son, is played by Reggie Absolom, and the pair are forced to get to know each other as Peter tries to adjust to an entirely new kind of responsibility.

It can be assumed that Club Kid will not shy away from the gritty aspects of nightlife within the queer community, as well as the fun and positives.

Speaking to Indiewire about the new project, Firstman said, “Even when you strip back the surface layer of the drugs and the afters going on all weekend, beneath it is a bunch of queer people who are funny and sensitive and broken in some ways and artistic and just fully whole… That’s what I wanted to show.”

The Club Kid trailer offers a look at the film’s mix of queer nightlife, comedy, and fatherhood, with Cara Delevingne making her acting comeback, and Babylon‘s Diego Calva, and The Good Places Kirby Howell-Baptiste among the supporting cast. Miss Benny, Colleen Camp and several other familiar faces also feature.

There is additionally an Ethel Cain needle drop for fans to listen out for, with her track ‘Thoroughfare’ featuring as father and son begin to form a seemingly close relationship.

When Club Kid debuted in the Un Certain Regard section of the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year, it caused quite a stir. A number of major distributors got into a bidding war because of its reception, and A24 eventually won the international rights.

A24 is the studio behind Everything Everywhere All at Once, Moonlight, Midsommar, and Uncut Gems, along with a long list of other queer and cult favourites.

Club Kid is currently scheduled for release on November 6, 2026, in the US. There is currently no set date for the Irish theatre.
