The rural youth organisation Macra na Feirme will be marching in Dublin LGBTQ Pride this year. It is the first year that the farmers organisation will be officially represented at Pride.
Marca na Feirme is a rural youth organisation which focuses primarily on personal development, rural and agricultural issues.
“Macra na Feirme is a voice for the youth of Ireland and I am delighted the organisation will participate in the Dublin Pride Festival,” said National President of the organisation Thomas Duffy.
“Social inclusion is the fulcrum of Macra na Feirme values and there isn’t a better place to demonstrate this than at Pride which is a celebration of LGBTQ+ people, and families and their friends.”
Duffy invites all members to make an application to march with the farmers organisation at Pride: “The festival highlights the progressive work being done but it also acknowledges that a lot more work remains. With this in mind, I would encourage our members to get involved and sign up now to take part on June 29”
Over 250,000 young people have been part of the organisation since it began in 1944. The organisation recognises that it must change as young people and society does.

“Today, young people have different priorities and need new challenges, which Macra actively provides to its members across all areas of activity.”
Participating in Pride is a step towards including all members of the organisation, regardless of their sexuality.

GCN has been a vital, free-of-charge information service for Ireland’s LGBTQ+ community since 1988.
During this global COVID pandemic, we like many other organisations have been impacted greatly in the way we can do business and produce. This means a temporary pause to our print publication and live events and so now more than ever we need your help to continue providing this community resource digitally.
GCN is a registered charity with a not-for-profit business model and we need your support. If you value having an independent LGBTQ+ media in Ireland, you can help from as little as €1.99 per month. Support Ireland’s free, independent LGBTQ+ media.
