The GALAS, Ireland’s LGBTQ+ awards, have officially announced that multi-talented artist Elaine Mai will be the special music guest at the 2025 ceremony. With tickets to go on sale soon, this year’s event is gearing up to be the most exciting celebration of Ireland’s LGBTQ+ community yet.
Established to honour individuals, organisations and companies making meaningful contributions to LGBTQ+ life in Ireland, the GALAS will see the 2025 nominees celebrated in what promises to be a lively evening. This year’s ceremony will be hosted by the hilarious duo of Kevin Twomey and PJ Kirby, who brought us the hit podcast I’m Grand Mam.
And to make what promises to be a delightful night even better, songwriter, musician, and producer Elaine Mai has just been revealed as this year’s music guest. Described as “one of Ireland’s top electronic music producers”, Elaine Mai has made a name for herself in Ireland through her numerous appearances at festivals, gigs and clubs over the years.
An avid collaborator, she has worked with the likes of Loah, Pillow Queens, Soulé, Sorcha Richardson, Daithí and MayKay. She has also released a raft of quality singles and EPs, as well as a full-length album titled Home in 2021.
Her distinctive vocals can be heard in ‘Love System’ by electropop Dublin band Le Galaxie, a song that left a mark in Ireland’s LGBTQ+ history when it became the unofficial soundtrack of the Marriage Equality campaign. At the time, Le Galaxie also launched ‘Love System: A Night For Marriage’ to raise funds for the campaign.
At the GALAS, Elaine Mai will take to the stage for a performance at the interval, delighting the audience with her many talents. After the ceremony, to end the night with a blast, Mother DJ Glamo will play tunes ’til late for those who would like to get their dancing shoes on.
The 2025 GALAS are set to highlight the winners across 14 award categories, each recognising unique and vital contributions to the LGBTQ+ landscape in Ireland. From grassroots activism to media representation and corporate advocacy, the awards serve as a reminder of the diverse efforts shaping a more inclusive society.
Tickets to the event are set to go on sale very soon, so keep an eye on GCN and The GALAS website!
