Ireland’s beloved alternative pageant, Hoes of Tralee, is hitting the big stage. Created by the chaotic duo behind The Wild Geeze, this tongue-in-cheek variety show will make its theatre debut at the Sugar Club in Dublin on August 22.

Shaping up to be a mix of pure camp, wild talent, and county pride, Hoes of Tralee is a no-holds-barred show that celebrates Ireland’s rich underworld of alternative talent, including drag, comedy, performance art, and more. After two years of incredible success and glitter-soaked glory, the pageant is finally coming to the big stage.

The spectacle is hosted by unpredictable cabaret duo Joe on the Dolan and Linda Farten, who will introduce the crowd to an evening of “sequins, screams, lip-syncs, tears, and possibly mild spiritual awakenings”.

The lineup for this theatre debut features artists Kate Moylan from Kilkenny, Aurora Divine from Louth, Daria de Colette from Galway, Marian Mary The 6th from Donegal, Meg Reilly aka Few Cans, and Hannah Hoops from Cork. Reigning Hoe, Miss South Dublin Patsy Pleasure, will also make an appearance. After last year’s win, Patsy returns to the show not to compete, but to judge contestants – and the audience.

On the judging panel, people can expect to see Ireland’s smoothest musical heartthrob, SexyTadhg, and acclaimed fashion disruptor Margaret O’Connor, who will be tasked with choosing who is best suited to be crowned the next Hoe.

The dress code for the event is Hoe Formal, defined as “glitter, mesh, county sashes, Eurovision trauma, and absolutely no emotional stability”. Following the pageant, the audience will be treated to an after-party featuring DJ Born in the 90s, aka Laura Lavelle.

The show will take place at the Sugar Club on August 22, with doors opening at 7pm. Tickets to this glittering mess of excellence are available here. Grab yours before they sell out!
