It has been reported that the ever outspoken, and sometimes controversial Lily Allen turned down Sir Bob Geldof’s invitation to take part in Band Aid 30, saying it was too ‘smug’.
She’s never one to not speak her mind, that Lily! The 29 year-old revealed that she doesn’t feel a part of the “success club” and refused to take part in the fourth incarnation of Sir Bob’s Band Aid that has released the iconic Do They Know It’s Christmas (this time around to help fight the ebola virus).
In an interview published in Event Magazine, Lily Allen said that she would rather personally donate money to the cause, instead of singing on the charity single alongside One Direction, Ellie Goulding and Ed Sheeran.
“I don’t think I’m above it all – I’m well below it,” said Allen. “But there’s something a bit smug about it.”
Lily was quick to stamp out rumours that the real reason she didn’t take part was because of a beef with Bob Geldof, saying that she actually liked Sir Bob because he is grumpy and outspoken like her.
Adele has been hitting the headlines too because of her refusual to take part, although she hasn’t commented on the reason behind it.
