Neil Patrick Harris has announced that he will host next year’s Academy Awards

Yep, for the second year running, a member of the LGBT community will MC the biggest awards show of the year, following the 2014 host Ellen Degeneres. Neil Patrick Harris, star of Gone Girl and How I Met Your Mother is reportedly hosting the event, which he says his a life long dream.

“To be asked to follow in the footsteps of Johnny Carson, Billy Crystal, Ellen DeGeneres, and everyone else who had the great fortune of hosting is a bucket list dream come true,” Harris said in a statement.

We think he is the perfect choice, as the 41 year-old is well used to hosting award shows. In the past, Harris also hosted the Emmy Awards  and the Tony Awards.

 
The 87th Academy Awards take place on 22 February at the Dolby Theatre.
