Traveller Pride Week 2025, running from May 19 – 30 is a nationwide celebration that highlights the history, culture, and unique contributions of the Traveller community to Irish society.
As part of the festivities, a special National Traveller Pride Concert will take place on Friday, May 23 at The Complex in Dublin. This free but ticketed event promises an unforgettable evening of traditional music, contemporary song, and powerful poetry all performed by leading artists from the Traveller community.
The headline act features a remarkable family trio: master piper and fiddle player Mickey Dunne of the renowned Dunne musical family will be joined by his daughter, Niamh Dunne, acclaimed fiddle player and singer known for her work with folk group Beoga, and her husband Seán Óg Graham, who recently joined the legendary Bothy Band for their reunion tour. Together, they’ll bring an intimate yet electrifying performance to the Dublin stage.

Adding to the evening’s musical depth, the trio will be joined by piper Johnny Purcell, grandson of the legendary Johnny Doran, who is making the journey from London specially for the concert. Also performing is William Dundon, a gifted accordionist and singer whose dynamic style reflects the vibrancy of the Traveller tradition.
The line-up continues with an eclectic mix of artists who represent both the roots and future of Traveller culture. These include singer-songwriter Katie Theasby, celebrated guitarist and singer Marty Barry, grandson of the iconic Margaret Barry, as well as rapper Willzee, known for his bold lyrical voice. Vocalists Kathleen Keenan, Rosie McCarthy, and the father-and-son duo Tom and Felix Doran will also take to the stage.
Complementing the musical performances are readings by two distinguished poets: Helen Hutchinson and Johnny Collins, whose words reflect the resilience, depth, and creativity within the Traveller community.
The National Traveller Pride Concert is more than just an evening of entertainment; it is a celebration of identity and a powerful act of cultural expression. Traveller Pride Week not only showcases the talent within the community but also challenges ongoing discrimination and seeks to foster understanding and inclusion in Irish society.
Admission is free, but booking is essential. Tickets can be reserved online – don’t miss this extraordinary celebration of Traveller Pride Week 2025.
