Pride season is in full swing and it’s time to get out and active. And what better way to do it than joining the MyLife 10 Day Pride Challenge launched by Irish Life, which gives you the opportunity to stay active while raising vital funds for Irish LGBTQ+ charities Belong To, ShoutOut, LGBT Ireland and yours truly, GCN.
This year marks three crucial anniversaries in Ireland. Ten years ago, Ireland became the first country in the world to legalise same-sex marriage by popular vote after we won the referendum. In addition to that milestone moment, 2015 was also the year when the Gender Recognition Act was passed, as well as the Children and Family Relationships Act.
To celebrate these milestone anniversaries, Irish Life encourages people all over the country to join the MyLife 10 Day Pride Challenge. From June 10 to 19, all participants are challenged to track 10,000 steps a day for 10 days, which is exactly 100,000 steps in total.
Those who manage to hit the goal will automatically be entered into Irish Life’s prize draw for a chance to win one of three €500 Aer Lingus vouchers.

And that’s not all: if 50% of participants hit the 100,000 steps target by the end of June 19, Irish Life will donate €10,000 split between Irish charities Belong To, ShoutOut, LGBT Ireland and GCN, for a total of €2,500 to each organisation.
“This is a great way to get active during Pride month while also raising funds for LGBTQ+ charities in Ireland who do vital work to support the community,” said GCN Manager Stefano Pappalardo.
“A big thank you to the wonderful folks at Irish Life for selecting GCN again as one of the charity partners for this year — your continued support is much appreciated!”
So let’s get stepping, everyone! If you wish to take part in the MyLife Pride Challenge, all you have to do is download the MyLife app, available on the Apple Store or Google Play Store. Once you have the app, just look up the MyLife Pride 10 Day Challenge to register.
You can run, walk or jog in order to meet your steps. Remember that only steps tracked from when you joined the challenge on the MyLife app will count on the challenge leader board. Steps that have been recorded before you joined the challenge cannot be added later.

Support GCN
GCN is a free, vital resource for Ireland’s LGBTQ+ community since 1988.
GCN is a trading name of National LGBT Federation CLG, a registered charity - Charity Number: 20034580.
GCN relies on the generous support of the community and allies to sustain the crucial work that we do. Producing GCN is costly, and, in an industry which has been hugely impacted by rising costs, we need your support to help sustain and grow this vital resource.
Supporting GCN for as little as €1.99 per month will help us continue our work as Ireland’s free, independent LGBTQ+ media.
