Viatel Technology Group is committed to ensuring that all employees working for the organisation feel safe and welcome. To show this commitment, they have implemented a range of initiatives to foster LGBTQ+ inclusion and equality in the workplace.

Viatel Technology Group is a complete digital services provider. With over 26 years of experience delivering fully managed security, networking, cloud and communications services and office locations in Dublin, Dundalk, Limerick, and Lisburn, their workforce is now over 350 employees, enabling them to celebrate the vast diversity across the company.

Supporting members of the LGBTQ+ community and allyship within the team have been key components of Viatel’s Diversity & Inclusion mission. Celebrating Pride as a core calendar event in the organisation each year allows members of the LGBTQ+ community to share their experiences, aiding the organisation’s efforts to create a safe, welcoming space for everyone.

Chief People Officer at Viatel Technology Group, Jeannette Naughton, said: “Celebrating our diverse culture is so important to us here at Viatel Technology Group. While we support our LGBTQIA+ community year-round, Pride month allows us to uplift and celebrate members of the community, while enabling the team as a whole to become the best allies they can be.”

Naughton also announced that the company is focused on uplifting the LGBTQ+ community: “Our pride committee have been actively working on ways in which we as an organisation can better support them.”

In addition to celebrating Pride Month in their office hubs each June, Viatel’s Pride committee strives to celebrate and embrace the community throughout the year. Below is a list of ways the organisation is committed to bettering equality in the workplace.

  • Viatel Technology Group has provided the option of adding pronouns to email signatures.
  • Gender-inclusive bathrooms have been created in their Hubs.
  • Easily accessible supports and information are available to all employees via their People & Culture Department.
  • Rainbow logos are used across social media platforms.
  • Viatel publicises all Pride-related events that take place in the organisation.
  • They leverage the insight and expertise of speakers from the LGBTQ+ community to help them better understand and learn how to best support the queer community within Viatel and beyond.
  • The organisation holds events like panel discussions which are critical to creating a safe, open and encouraging environment for their own LGBTQ+ community. The Pride committee at Vital has been actively working on ways to support queer folks.
  • They foster a welcoming environment for trans and gender-diverse employees and have implemented a process to make using a chosen name in place of a dead name easier.
  • Viatel uses inclusive language in their employee handbook, specifically around parental leave.

In a further show of allyship to the LGBTQ+ community, in June 2024, Viatel Technology Group raised vital funds for GCN, making a total donation of €500.

We are excited to see what is next for Viatel Technology Group!

Support GCN

GCN has been a vital, free-of-charge information service for Ireland’s LGBTQ+ community since 1988.

During this global COVID pandemic, we like many other organisations have been impacted greatly in the way we can do business and produce. This means a temporary pause to our print publication and live events and so now more than ever we need your help to continue providing this community resource digitally.

GCN is a registered charity with a not-for-profit business model and we need your support. If you value having an independent LGBTQ+ media in Ireland, you can help from as little as €1.99 per month. Support Ireland’s free, independent LGBTQ+ media.
