The GAZE Film Festival 2016 Promo video features clips from ‘Kiki’, ‘Strike A Pose’ and steamy French film ‘Theo And Hugo’
The GAZE Film Festival 2016 is about to kick off, and they’ve released a promo video with highlights from some of the films they’re screening. GAZE will run from Thursday July 28th to Monday August 1st in the Lighthouse Cinema in Smithfield, Dublin 7.
Among the films to be shown during the festival are ‘Kiki’ the movie about the voguing balls of New York and those who participate in them, French film ‘Theo and Hugo’ which is about two young gay lovers in Paris and the festival’s opening film ‘Strike A Pose’ about the dancers who toured with Madonna on her Blond Ambition tour in the 1990s.
Watch the video for the GAZE Film Festival 2016 Promo below:
‘Kiki’ can be seen as an update on the New York vogue scene that was explored in ‘Paris Is Burning’, with a focus on what the community are going through now, how balls are an outlet for so many LGBT people that don’t conform to a heteronormative society. Check out the trailer below:
‘Theo And Hugo’ is a French language film which explores sexuality and passion in the exquisite setting that is Paris. Lustful and emotive, the film’s unashamedly carnal nature positions it to join French films like ‘Stranger By The Lake’ in the annals of LGBT cinema. Check out the trailer for ‘Theo And Hugo’ below:
‘Strike A Pose’ which follows the seven dancers Madonna took on her Blond Ambition tour in 1990. The dancers became international icons of sexual freedom and liberation in the public eye, but this documentary reveals how it wasn’t as emancipating in reality for them. Check out the trailer for ‘Strike A Pose’ below.
