Elliot Page has been cast in Christopher Nolan’s next project, an adaptation of Homer’s The Odyssey. With other major names already in the cast, the film is set to be one of the director’s most ambitious projects.
Following the success of Oppenheimer in 2023, Christopher Nolan first announced his adaptation of The Odyssey in December 2024. The film will be based on the epic poem written by Homer in the 8th century BC, which follows the titular character Odysseus on his decade-long journey home following the end of the Trojan War.
Due to the legacy of the source material and the scope of the project, The Odyssey is set to be a massive undertaking for the director. Described by Universal as “a mythic action epic shot across the world using brand new IMAX film technology”, the budget for the film is reportedly $250 million, making it Nolan’s most expensive to date.
A star-studded cast had already been announced for the project, including names like Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o, Charlize Theron and more.

Now, Elliot Page has been confirmed as one of the latest additions to the cast, alongside Himesh Patel, Bill Irwin and Samantha Morton. This marks the second collaboration between Page and Nolan, as the actor previously starred in the director’s 2010 film, Inception.
Since then, the actor has taken on several exciting projects, including the Netflix hit series The Umbrella Academy and the film Close to You, which he also co-wrote and produced. Fans rejoiced at the news that the actor will be starring in a film created by Christopher Nolan, one of the most successful directors in Hollywood.

Taking to X to comment on the news, one fan wrote: “Christopher Nolan is arguably the biggest Director in Hollywood and casting Elliot Page in his anticipated blockbuster (THE ODYSSEY) is massive!! Yes they’ve work together before but never has an openly trans actor been cast in such a high profile project. This is truly amazing.”

Another fan commented with a very composed: “ELLIOT PAGE BACK WITH CHRISTOPHER NOLAN I AM ALIVE!!!!!!!!!”
With filming expected to start in February 2025, the prospective release date for The Odyssey is set for July 2026.
putting a trans actor who has received so much hate online in a $250M blockbuster, especially in this new trump era, is honestly very commendable. chris nolan has officially gone woke, you love to see it https://t.co/ojUuvsC1E2
