Our good Judys at Mother certainly know how to get us into the Pride spirit. Just last week, they announced this year’s Pride Block Party will get its biggest venue EVER – the spectacular National Museum of Ireland at Collins Barracks in the heart of the city centre.
To match this incredible new venue, they have just announced a spectacular lineup!
Headlining this year will be Danish pop superstar MØ. Having established herself with the raw, DIY tinged pop of 2014’s hugely influential debut album No Mythologies To Follow, she has since expanded her sound and artistic vision via collaboration with a broad spectrum of music’s most interesting characters – from Diplo to Charli XCX to Cashmere Cat to SOPHIE.
When it was released in 2015, her smash hit Lean On which she co-wrote with Major Lazer was Spotify’s most streamed song of ALL TIME with a staggering 2.5 billion views on YouTube.
Her second studio album, Forever Neverland was met with a wealth of acclaim across the globe and features collaborations with Diplo, Charli XCX, Empress Of, Stargate, Hudson Mohawke and more.
One of the highlights of her acclaimed new album Forever Neverland, the infectious anthem ‘Blur’ blends off-kilter pop with a ’90s grunge feel and now features a new verse from Mark Foster of US indie-rock band Foster The People, along with a brand new video.
We’re so excited that our current cover stars Pillow Queens will rock the Pride Block Party Stage this year.
While taking influence from artists from contemporary US DIY indie and punk scenes like Mitski, Waxahatchee, Hop Along and Cloud Nothings, PILLOW QUEENS stay true to their Irish heritage, peppering their songs with Dublin slang. Steve Lamaq calls them, “Deceptively infectious, with sharp hooks and sharp nails.”
Choice Music Prize nominated artist DAITHI, is an electronic music producer who combines nature recordings, old Irish samples and analog synths to create a unique type of house music that’s soaked in Irish culture. A mainstay in the Irish gigging scene, his live show is an improvised performance, creating on the spot dance music using synths, drum machines and live fiddle.
The Queen of Ireland, PANTI BLISS, will be delighting with a DJ set and limber up for some Drag Aerobics hosted by one of the best party queens on the scene, BUNNY!
PAUL RYDER absolutely slayed on last year’s Ireland’s Got Talent. The drag performer, who has previously caught the eye of RuPaul, has been doing drag for ten years and has toured with some of the biggest drag acts including the AAA girls.
